Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal has reportedly pulled out of the presidential race on the platform of the All Progressives Congress in order to vie for the Sokoto State governorship seat in the 2015 elections.
The Cable on Tuesday quoted him as saying: “After consulting widely, I have decided to contest for the governorship of Sokoto State. I thank my friends who collected the presidential forms for me, nonetheless”.
This decision to pull out is no doubt unrelated to the series of consultations he had with APC top shots that were behind retired General Muhammadu Buhari.
He was reportedly prevailed upon to step down for the former head of state so as not to upset the general’s chances of picking the party’s ticket.
