Rivers 2015: Amaechi’s “successor” in APC emerges... it's Dakuku Peterside!

The All Progressives Congress APC) in Rivers state has reportedly selected a consensus candidate to run for the 2015 Governorship election.

A report by Daily Post stated that:

…elders of the APC in the state settled for the Lawmaker representing Andoni-Opobo-Nkoro at the Federal House of Representatives, Dakuku Peterside to run for the exalted position.

Report available to DAILY POST says the other favourite, Senator Magnus Abe was at the meeting when the decision to select Peterside was reached.

The name of Dakuku Peterside will now be sent to the state Governor, Rotimi Amaechi for ratification.

Peterside was Commissioner for works during Governor Amaechi’s first tenure.

Reactions are bound to erupt following this decision as it is believed that some elders in the state prefer Leyii Kwanee, the Deputy Speaker of the state House of Assembly, who hails from Ogoni land.

Ogoni has been clamouring for a share in the rulership of the state.

Governor Amaechi is however yet to comment on the development.
