Secondary school students attack female teacher with machetes

A female teacher at Obosima Secondary Technical School, Ohaji-Egbema Local Government Area of Imo State, has been beaten to a pulp by irate male students of the school. Reports said the teacher, Mrs Mary-Ann Oguezuonu, who is a nursing mother, was attacked with machetes.

Reports emanating from Obosima revealed that the students attacked the nursing mother with machetes.

According to Vanguard: “The teacher’s alleged offence was that she spotted a female student that changed her school uniform into a skimpy outfit and threatened that the college authorities would send her packing if she wore such an indecent dress to school again.

It was also gathered that while Mrs. Oguezuonu was cautioning the JSS2 student, a male SS1 student jumped into the classroom and rudely confronted the teacher on why she was embarrassing the female student.

“The male student, who was not satisfied with the verbal insults he heaped on the teacher, went further to grab Mrs. Oguezuonu’s blouse,” a student told Vanguard.

According to the report, the noise attracted other teachers to the class and the offending student was dragged to the staff room where he was flogged.

Another teacher told the newspaper: “While still cuddling her five-month old baby in the staff room, the irate male student mobilized others, suspected to be fellow cult members.

“They came into the staff room, armed with cutlasses and attacked the teacher.”

It was gathered that the matter had been reported to the police and that some arrests had been made although the main culprit, Chimaobi Agu, was still at large
