While chatting on whatsapp, many people have started to notice a new notification which displays a blue tick next to a private message sent. And they have been wondering why it appears and what it meant.
Well, Whatsapp says, don't panic. It is what many users of the social messaging app have been clamouring for.Whatsapp explains that it is a notification that your message has been read by the recipient.
Below is the updated FAQ page on WhatsApp's explaining the new feature
Previously, messages sent successfully had two grey ticks next to them. The first meant the message had successfully left the user's device and it was assumed that the second meant it had been received and read. No! The second tick actually means that the message had been sent from Whatsapp’s server to the receivers device! Whatsapp never had a notification that showed that your message had been read. But now, they have it in the two blue ticks.
The two grey ticks will still appear but they turn blue when the message has been read.
Not all users have seen the blue ticks yet, bcause the company are rolling it out gradually.
