Islamic state militants behead US aid worker who converted to Islam

Islamic state militants have reportedly beheaded another US aid worker, Abdul-Rahman Kassing, BBC reports.

A video posted online claims to show the severed head of the deceased, whom the militants identified as Peter Edward Kassig, refusing to use his Islamic name, Abdul-Rahman. Abdul-Rahman had converted to Islam and changed his name.

In the 16-minutes video, a masked militant, suspected to be ‘jihadi John’ stands over the severed head.

The video showed the history of Islamic State as well as a gory section of Syrian soldiers being killed in their numbers, before showing Kassig’s severed head. The video also showed the beheading of at least 12 people said to be pilots and officers in Syria’s military.

“Jihadi John” was reported to have said in the video: "To Obama, the dog of Rome, today we are slaughtering the soldiers of Bashar and tomorrow we are slaughtering your soldiers. And with god's permission we will break this final and last crusade”

He said further: "This is Peter Edward Kassig, a US citizen of your country. Peter, who fought against Muslims in Iraq, was serving as a soldier in the American army, does not have much to say” His previous cellmates have already spoken on his behalf."

The US says that it is working to find out the authenticity of the video.

Mr Kassig’s family who live in Indiana, USA, say they are still waiting for confirmation on the reports about their 26-year-old son.
