Controversial World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) boss, Vince McMahon has compared Liverpool to the deaded Ebola virus, risking the ire of fans in the city.
Liverpool Echo reports that the 69-year-old was in Liverpool on Tuesday night for a recording of popular WWE Smackdown! when fans at the ECHO arena started to boo the WWE crew over the withdrawal of the company’s long awaited subscription-based online video network.
As they chanted “Where’s our network?” McMahon stepped forward to make mockery of the Liverpool accent, probably in a bid to enthuse the crowd.
He first blasted Liverpool for being worse than Sheffield and Leeds, two other cities on the tour, and said that the audience needed to wake up.
He then added that Liverpool sounded “like an old man’s skin disease”, before saying “Liverpool...kind of like ebola, it just crawls up on ya.”
Mr McMahon is not new to controversy. The report recalls that he once staged his own death in a limo explosion, had a long-running feud with Donald Trump and is accused by many wrestling fans of crossing legendary star Bret ‘The Hitman’ Hart.
