A woman, Ebele Awinonu, is being held by the police in Anambra State for allegedly selling her one month old baby boy to a child trafficking syndicate for N200,000.

While parading her on Tuesday alongside 17 other suspects of various crimes, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Uche Ezeh, said men of the Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) busted the syndicate when Ms Awinonu was on her way to complete the transaction at Ihiala.

Channels report has it that bodies of suspected kidnappers who were gunned down in a shootout with the police on their way from collecting ransom from the family of a kidnap victim were also paraded. The kidnappers were gunned down at Oba in Idemili South Local Government Area of the state.


Among those also paraded at the headquarters of the Special Anti Robbery Squad in Oyi Local Government Area of the state, was a woman who claimed to be a Deputy Superintendent of Police, involved in illegal auction business.
