The Assemblies of God Church has dismissed and ex-communicated its General Superintendent, Rev. Dr. Paul Emeka for allegedly breaching peace as well as the church’s constitution. His pastoral certificate was also withdrawn.


Rev. Emeka was alleged to be working at cross-purposes with the leadership of the church and was allegedly plotting o take over the church.

He was also said to have “dragged the name of the church in the mud by instituting legal suits and using law enforcement agencies to witch-hunt some of their leaders.”

They accused him of suspending people who challenged him, dissolving some presbyters illegally, creating illegal administrative units, taking over Evangel Television and registering it in his personal name.

The decision to sack him was part of resolutions reached at the 35th quadrennial General Meeting of the Church held on Saturday at Evangel Camp along Enugu- Abakaliki Expressway, Okpoto, Ebonyi State.

Also ex-communicated were several officials which included Raphael Itotoh, Nicholas Anyanwu, Philips Efejunti, Roland Best, Kayode Shinkale, Bulus Goni, Baba Fada and others.

Rev. Chidi Okoroafor, the former Assistant General Superintendent of the church has been announced as the new General Superintendent. Other officials elected with him include Rev. Pastor Ejikeme Ejim, (Assistant General Superintendent); Rev. Dr. Godwin Amawoh (General Secretary); Rev. Dr. Vincent Alaje (General Treasurer) and Rev. Scott Ennis  (Chairman of NMFF).
