Boko Haram has reportedly renamed captured Mubi town in Adamawa State. It’s new name, according to the dreaded sect, is “Madinatul Islam” which means “City of Islam”.

Displaced residents of Mubi fleeing the town
Premium Times quotes Aliyu Bala, a resident of the town who could not leave at the time of the invasion as telling journalists over the phone that the insurgents had taken complete control of the town.

He said: “They mounted check points and surveillance at strategic locations, brandishing riffles but asking us not to panic or run away”.

Meanwhile, the sect has urged displaced residents of captured communities of the state to return home, assuring them of safety in the “Islamic Caliphate.”

Boko Haram is currently holding four local governments in the state which include: Michika, Madagali, Mubi North and Mubi South.

Some residents say normal activities have picked up in the captured territories as Boko Haram enjoined them to open their shops for business and live without fear.

The insurgents have warned politicians not to hold any election in the territories and have vowed to capture the whole state soon.

A resident was quoted as saying: “They provided security during the market day of Uba town last Thursday while promising to continue to give marketers and residents who come to the area utmost security as long as they comply with Islamic rules.”

“They have opened one of the filling stations belonging to A.A Garba in Uba town as motorists’ troops to buy the commodity due to high demand”
