Customer smashes bottle on Barman’s head for staring at him, girlfriend

A barman with a hotel in Ojodu, Lagos, recently had his head battered with a bottle of beer by a customer. The customer, Kelvin Friday, alleged that the barman, Simeon Tenebe, was staring at him and his girlfriend while they were drinking at the hotel.

Punch reports that Tenebe, who is currently battling with injuries to the head and face as a result of the attack, said he was only thinking about a discussion he had with his sister earlier in the day when Kelvin walked up to him and asked why he was staring at him and his girlfriend. He then challenged him to a fight and immediately smashed the bottle of beer he was drinking on his head and inflicted more injuries on him.

The unnamed girlfriend was said to have fled the scene when Tenebe started bleeding profusely.
It was learnt that Kelvin had earlier complained of Tenebe’s bad customer service when they first got to the hotel.

As a result of the attack, Kelvin is currently facing a one count charge of assault at an Ikeja Magistrate Court where he pleaded not guilty.

According to the charge sheet, Kelvin, 25, smashed the bottle of beer on Tenebe and inflicted injuries on his head and face on October 21 at about 6pm.

The Magistrate, Mrs. O.A. Akinde, granted him bail in the sum of N100, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
