Bomb explosion kills Shiite Muslims in Yobe

A procession of Muslims in Tsohuwar Kasuwa area of Potiskum in Yobe State was on bombed while they took part in a Shi’ite ceremony, Ashura. More than 15 people are feared dead

A witness said a suicide bomber targeted the large crowd which gathered at Faydia Islamic school ran by the Shiite.

The attack is believed to be carried out by the Boko Haram sect, termed a Sunni Islamic group.

The Sunnis are in disagreement with the Shi’ites over the festival which is used to commemorate the slaying of Prophet Mohammad’s grandson Hussein at the battle in Kerbala in 680 AD. It is marked on the 10th day of the Muslim new year.

Number of those killed in the blast is not yet known
