Boko Haram militants carried out yet another onslaught on
Dille village in Askira-Uba Local Government area of Borno State in the early
hours of Monday, July 14, 2014, killing scores and burning down churches.
The terrorists, it was gathered, were armed to the teeth,
with Improvised Explosives Devices (IEDs), rocket launchers and anti aircraft
guns. They razed down residential houses and shops in the area.
It was also learnt that some
villagers fought back and killed five of the terrorists. Some other villagers
have fled to the bush and the exact number of casualties is yet to be
ascertained
A source disclosed that two Nigeria
Air Force fighter jets had arrived in Dille, and started an immediate
bombardment of the militants. Fatalities and injuries stemming from that
fire-fight are yet to surface with accurate numbers.
