What would have been a major
disaster for Nigeria’s aviation sector was averted yesterday, July 22, 2014
after a fire that broke out at the Aminu Kano International Airport, Kano.
Men of the fire service were quick to arrest
the fire but the fuel tanker was completely burnt while the one of the aircraft’s
wings was damaged.
The fire reportedly started
from a fuel tanker which was feeding an aircraft belonging to Turkish Airlines.
The Istanbul bound flight, an
Airbus 340, was cancelled leaving many passengers who had prepared to board
disappointed.
In April, a mysterious fire
broke out at the control tower of the same airport and the cause of the fire is
yet to be made public.
