Former captain of the Brazilian national team, Carlos Caetano Bledorn Verri, commonly known as "Dunga", has been appointed
as new coach of the team, replacing Luiz Filipe Scolari who resigned
following the country's disastrous showing in the just concluded World
cup.
Dunga, the country's 1994 World Cup-winning captain had coached the team
between 2006 and 2010, before he was fired after a World Cup
quarter-final defeat to the Netherlands in South Africa 2010.
During the four year period, the 50 year old guided the Selecao to
clinch the Copa America in 2007 and the Confederations Cup in 2009.
His first game in his new appointment would be in August for the team's
Gillette Brasil Global Tour in United States where they would play
friendlies with Colombia and Ecuador.
