A bomb was today, July 27, 2014, thrown into the premises of St. Charles Catholic Church, Sabon gari, Kano State, shortly after the church service, killing at least five persons.

The victims included a soldier guarding the premises of the church, two men, a lady and a child.

A soldier was also killed. The bombing of the church today is the third bombing incident in Kano.

Two previous attempts today on a Mosque and a North West University in the city were thwarted by the police in the city.

At the North West University, the female suicide bomber was forced to detonate her explosive vest by the police at Kofar Nasarawa gate.

According to an official source: “Only the young female suicide bomber was killed by her device, while five of our officers sustained injuries and were promptly taken to the Hospital”.

Three persons have been arrested‎ in connection with the attack on the church while two others were arrested in connection with last night bomb discovery.
