Jackie Chan’s son, Jaycee Chan, was on Monday indicted on drug offences by Chinese prosecutors, and he faces up to three years in jail if convicted. He was first detained in August at his Beijing apartment, alongside Taiwanese movie star, Ko Kai.

Beijing police said the duo tested positive for marijuana and admitted using the drug.

Jaycee’s father, Jackie Chan, who was named an anti-drug ambassador in 2009, has openly apologized over his son’s action, admitting embarrassment by the situation.

He had written in a blogpost back in August:
“Regarding this issue with my son Jaycee, I feel very angry and very shocked. As a public figure, I’m very ashamed. As a father, I’m heartbroken.”
Celebrities have been specially targeted in China’s current war against illegal drugs owing to their influence over the public. More than 7800 people have been busted Beijing alone, since June, when the crackdown began.
