Hoodlums invade church, flog pastor, members

Hoodlums on Sunday invaded the Christ Apostolic Church, Pillar of Fire located at LA primary School, Akure, Ondo State, flogging and inflicting injuries on the presiding pastor and members of the church.

The hoodlums, also destroyed some of the church property including chairs, window glasses, electrical appliances and made away with the church offerings.

Vanguard reports that police chased and apprehended the hoodlums but a mob, obviously created by fellow thugs, attacked the policemen and rescued the culprits. A policeman was stabbed in the process.

Although police spokesman, Wole Ogodo, said investigations are still going on, the newspaper gathered that a rival pastor of one of the churches in the area is suspected to be behind the attack.
