Doctors under the auspices of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) have suspended their 65- day old strike action.
According to the NMA President, Kayode Obembe, the association decided to suspend the strike in the interest of public health as the country’s faces challenges occasioned by the Ebola virus outbreak.
He said all Nigerian doctors are expected to resume work on Monday.
Mr. Obembe however added that the association’s delegates at the meeting where the decision to suspend the industrial action was taken resolved among others things that the Federal Government must recall all suspended resident doctors without punitive measures.
The Federal Ministry of Health had suspended over 16, 000 resident doctors following a presidential directive.
