Embattled Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) President, Aminu Maigari alongside the General Secretary of the NFF, Musa Amadu and another board member, Chris Green, have all been arrested by the State Security Service (SSS).

News emerged early this morning that Maigari has resigned as the football body's president, with a statement from the Sports ministry revealing that the tenure of the present NFF board expired after August 25, 2014.

The NFF are currently having their congress in Abuja, but the congress has been stopped with members insisting on the release of the three men. They also insist that the congress must be presided over by Maigari.

The Congress was expected to fix a date for the elections of new officials for the NFF board.

Maigari was first arrested in July as he returned from the World Cup in Brazil, following an order issued by a Plateau State court asking the NFF executives to step aside.

A court injunction last month sacked the NFF executive. It took a suspension by FIFA before the order was vacated. He was later impeached and FIFA intervened again by faulting the process.

About a week ago, a mysterious fire gutted a section of the NFF headquarters in Abuja. And the crisis continues.
