Colombian defender, Camilo Zuniga, has not stopped receiving threats to his life from Brazilian supporters over the injury he inflicted on Neymar which ruled him out of the world cup prematurely. And his father is deeply worried for his son and his family.

Speaking to Lancenet, he said: "We heard nasty comments and threats by phone and email. They are crazy and rude messages.

"As a parent I am worried, but not only for him, but his wife and daughter, I hope that the dust will settle and we can all move on.

"Neymar has acquitted him of responsibility - my boy was not at fault. He is not violent and has no past history of nasty moves. What happened to Neymar happens to all players, injuries are part of football."

The Napoli full-back fractured one of Neymar’s vertebra during his side's 2-1 loss to the tournament hosts during their quarter-final on July 4 in Fortaleza. Zuniga avoided further punishment, but his tackle on Neymar has been heavily. He also claims it was not an intentional act.

Zuniga had to employ bodyguards, having been threatened via phone and email since the tournament.
