Chelsea FC has dropped Mikel Obi from the club’s pre-season European playing tour. The team left for Austria on Monday, July 21, 2014 and Mikel was missing on the list of players that made the journey.

New signings like Cesc Fabregas, Diego Costa and Filipe Luis were all part of the 26-man squad taking part in the training camp which opened today and Jose Mourinho watched them in trainng as Chelsea players for the first time.

Other players on Jose Mourinho’s team include:Petr Cech, Matej Delac, Mitchell Beeney, Mark Schwarzer, Branislav Ivanovic, Oriol Romeu, Kurt Zouma, Andreas Christensen, John Terry, Gary Cahill, Nathan Ake, Cesar Azpilicueta, Marco van Ginkel, Nemanja Matic, Nathaniel Chalobah, Mohamed Salah, Jeremie Boga, Lewis Baker, John Swift, Patrick Bamford, Fernando Torres, Dominic Solanke and Isaiah Brown.

Mikel’s unsatisfactory performance at the Brazil 2014 World cup tournament is believed to be behind Mourinho’s decision to drop the player.

Hope this is not the beginning of an unpalatable season for the Super Eagles number 10 shirt holder.
