Employment: Sokoto employers diploma holders as drivers

The Sokoto State Government yesterday, August 5, approved the immediate recruitment of 100 holders of diploma as drivers for ministries, departments and agencies in the state.

In a statement signed by the Head of Civil Service of the state, Alhaji Bature Shinkafi, the drivers will be employed from the 23 Local Governments Areas of the state. According to him, the move was aimed at boosting employment generation in the state.

He said that “the initiative is sequel to the changing trend which requires educated persons to handle hi-tech and modern vehicles. Most of these modern vehicles had been fully equipped with computers and other hi-tech gadgets”.

He said the State Government had acquired vehicles which needed proper handling by educated and highly-skilled personnel.

 “All drivers in the employment of the state government will continue to serve in such positions. Necessary arrangements had been made to ensure the expeditious implementation of the project for the overall development of the state”, he added.
