A major shake-up has occurred in Nigeria’s oil sector and the first casualty is the Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Mr. Andrew Yakubu, who has been replaced by Dr. Joseph Dawha, who hails from Borno State.
President Jonathan’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati, who made the announcement, also said that Mr. Anthony Ugonna Muoneke becomes the new Managing Director of the Nigeria Petroleum Development Corporation (NPDC).
Ms. Aisha Mata Abdurrahman was reassigned as the corporation’s Group Executive Director, Commercial and Investment; while Dr. Attahiru B. Yusuf was named the Group Executive Director, Business Development.
Dawha was formerly the Group Executive Director, Exploration and Production, NNPC and Managing Director, Integrated Data Services Ltd, a subsidiary of the NNPC.
According to President Jonathan’s release, “Mr Anthony Muoneke, the new Managing Director of the NPDC, hails from Anambra state. Called to the Nigerian Bar in 1985, he has over 29 years’ experience at both local and international levels in the oil and gas as well as the energy and power sectors, including serving as Executive Director, Finance & Admin, Niger Delta Power Holding Company Ltd. (NDPHC)”.
All the appointments are with immediate effect.
