“Cold war” has broken out between the people of Asaba and Ibusa communities, both in Oshimili South and North Local Government areas of Delta State respectively. The genesis is the current crisis rocking the state PDP in which the wife of a former national chairman of the party, Ahmadu Ali, Mrs. Miriam Ali was allegedly assaulted by youths loyal to the state chairman of the party, Peter Nwaoboshi. Although Nwaoboshi claims that he was the one actually assaulted by Mrs. Ali.

While Ali,a member of the party’s BOT hails from Asaba, Nwaoboshi is an Ibusa son.

Trouble started weeks ago at the PDP secretariat in Asaba when a disagreement led to the ripping of Mrs. Ali’s cloths.

Daily Independent reports that “hundreds of women in Asaba protested round the streets of the city to the Asagba of Asaba’s palace and others over what they described as inhuman treatment allegedly meted out on one of their daughters, Ali.

“They threatened to drag the party’s chairman to court except he (Nwaoboshi) apologised within 14 days. Failure to do so will make him to face the wrath of Asaba gods, the protesting women vowed”

According to the leader of the protesters, Mordi Chukwudi, it was a taboo that a married Asaba woman with the status of Ali be beaten up in Asaba without regards to the emotions of the indigenes. He opined that such an act, in the past could have led to an inter community war.

But a chief in the palace of Obi Louis Nwaoboshi, the Obusor of Ibusa, where the party chairman hails from and who does not want his name mentioned, told Daily Independent that the threat is empty, saying nothing should happen to their son who was allegedly assaulted by a woman publicly.
In the same vein, Newson247 learnt that Nwaoboshi, has declared that “it is now an eye for an eye”.

He has reportedly engaged lawyers to take Mrs Ali to court as he would “no longer watch the woman throw dirt at him”.

Supporters of Ali had also threatened to drag the party chairman to court if he did not apologise for the assault within 14 days.
