What kind of alert has the Nigerian airports been placed if a corpse could be flown in from Liberia, a country under Ebola virus emergency, and taken to Anambra state without any check? This is the summary of the first slip of the country's Ebola alert placed at the airports.

While addressing Journalists yesterday over the corpse which was deposited at Apex Mortuary, Nkwelle Ezunaka, Oyi Local Government Area of the state, Commissioner for Health, Joe Akabuike expressed the same worry.

The State Ministry of Health has since sealed off the mortuary as a precautionary measure in the light of fears that the deceased must have died an Ebola related death.Workers in the Mortuary have also been placed in quarantine.

He added: “We have sealed off the mortuary, and everyone who is working there, we have ordered that they be quarantined. As I speak with you, experts from the Federal Ministry of Health are on their way to Anambra. What we will do is that those people that are quarantined will be screened, and we want to assure Anambra people that we shall be proactive to ensure that the virus does not spread.

Akabuike also disclosed that the state has secured a quarantine site to isolate suspects from the people until they are checked.

Nigerians expressed their disappointment over the slip on social media: Read some comments below:

"The person who leaked the information to government deserves a National honour. The family who smuggled the corpse in deserves to be prosecuted. Meanwhile, let all the members of that family who were in the know be quarantined". -Anonymous

"God bless you, the informant! I wonder how someone in his normal sense will import a dead body from an Ebola ravaged nation to his own country, simply because of the crazy belief that Ibo man must be buried in his home town. This is wickedness to the highest and dangerous point. Hmmmmmm, we pray that he died of another sickness!" -Anonymous

"Nigerians and their nonsense. How come the authorities allowed the corpse to travel all the way from Libera, Lagos and then Anambra? Shouldn't they have cremated the body in Libera? Does it mean no one alerted the authorities until the corpse got to Anambra? We'r only living at the mercy of God" - Sincere9gerian

"Why bring a dead man from that deadly country who died from the deadly virus to Nigeria for Christ sake. The govt we curse almost in every thread are trying hard to protect us from this virus but yet for some reasons I don't know a family would rather take the risk of spreading the virus to the whole country, just to give there brother a " befitting" burial.
Clear indication that we are the cause of our problems". -AmNotDrunk

"The ineptitude of Nigerians and the authorities is indescribably alarming!! How in the world could they allow a corpse into the country from Liberia with all that is happening in the region right now?? Can you just imagine the rubbish!! angry What part of the word "caution" don't our airport and immigration officials understand. So pissed right now!" -Omenka

Nigerians are angry!
