Horror struck Friday in West Bengal, India on Friday when a tiger pounced on a woman and disappeared with her into the dense surrounding mangrove forest.

Forest officials said that the woman and her husband were in a boat with a boat driver and were trying to catch crabs in a shallow river near the Pirkhali Forest, when the beast jumped on her and dragged her into the forest.

A forest official, Nabin Chandra Bahunguna, stated that forest guards searched for the woman after the husband reported the attack, but found no trace of her.

It was the sixth tiger attack this year in the region, where environmentalists say shrinking habitat was forcing tigers to venture farther in search of food.
