News outlets in Brazil, including the nation’s Globo TV, have announced that  Luiz Filipe Scolari, who led the country to what they described as “a disappointing fourth-place finish” in the just concluded Brazil 2014 World Cup has been relieved as coach of the national team.
The 65-year-old coach, whose contract ends this summer, was expected to win the World Cup at home.
Although, Scolari said on Saturday after Brazil’s 3-0 loss to Holland in the third-place match that he was handing over the team and would allow the country’s football authorities to decide whether he would continue or not.
Scolari’s trouble started with Brazil’s humiliating fall to Germany 7-1 at the semi final stage and was made worse by the 3-0 defeat to Holland in the third place match
