News
outlets in Brazil, including the nation’s Globo TV, have announced that Luiz Filipe Scolari, who led the country to
what they described as “a disappointing fourth-place finish” in the just
concluded Brazil 2014 World Cup has been relieved as coach of the national team.
The
65-year-old coach, whose contract ends this summer, was expected to win the
World Cup at home.
Although, Scolari
said on Saturday after Brazil’s 3-0 loss to Holland in the third-place match
that he was handing over the team and would allow the country’s football authorities
to decide whether he would continue or not.
