At least five persons, including a new born baby boy were killed in an earthquake that hit southern Mexico and Central America on Monday.

Reports have it that President of Guatemala, Otto Perez Molina, confirming the figures, said that 33 people were injured while 80 houses were destroyed.  Most of the injuries, according to him, were head injuries.
 
"With the reports we have so far, we can say this quake has caused moderate damage. It's not light damage," he said while addressing a press conference. An airport in Tapachula, a Mexican city near the Guatemala border, was also affected.
 
Spokesman of the State Fire department, Raul Hernandez said at least two people died in their homes in Pati, a Guatemalan town in the border province of San Marcos, when the walls collapsed walls. Another woman in Quetzaltenango died from a heart attack although it could not be confirmed if the heart attack was related to the quake. 
 
One man was also confirmed killed in Huixtla by a collapsed wall.
 
Local news media in North American nation reported that the quake was strongest in the States of Chiapas and Tabasco. It was also felt in El Salvador.
 
There were also reports of power outages and rock slides on some roadways in Guatemala. Many schools, even in Mexican states not directly affected, were also forced to close.
 
In 2012, a magnitude-7.4 earthquake occurred in this region and killed 48 people
