A top commander of the Islamic terrorist sect, Boko Haram, has been captured by the Nigerian military after a round of fierce gun battle with the terrorist.


The face-off took place at Konduga, Borno State on Wednesday, where 60 of the terrorists were also killed. The sect had attempted to gain access to the strategic town.

This was confirmed Thursday by the Director of Defence Information (DDI), Maj-Gen. Chris Olukolade.

Olukolade said the "seriously wounded high ranking terrorists leader is being treated in a military medical facility after he was captured in the operations at Konduga".

According to the Defence headquarters, some of the assault machinery of the sect were destroyed while some were captured. Weapons captured include: 24 rifles, 5 Rocket Propelled Grenade Tubes, 2 machine guns and 1 Anti-aircraft as well as a Ford Ranger vehicle.
