A TV news reporter, Carlo Greene shocked viewers as well as her bosses and co-employees on Monday when she quit right in the middle of a news presentation, using the “F” word.

She had been relaying a news story on Marijuana for Alaska based TV, KTVA News, when she suddenly dropped a stunner by saying:“Now everything you’ve heard is why I, the actual owner of the Alaska Cannabis Club, will be dedicating all of my energy toward fighting for freedom and fairness, which begins with legalizing marijuana. And as for this job, well, not that I have a choice but, f**k it, I quit.”

And she left the set.

Greene's shock resignation threw her co-anchor off balance as she struggled to apologise to viewers for the language used. She however carried on like a pro.

KTVA News director, Bert Rudman, later released a statement on their website: “By now many of you have seen one of our reporters use inappropriate language and quit her job during Sunday night’s newscast. We apologize.

“In addition, she had a personal and business stake in the issue she was reporting, but did not disclose that interest to us. This betrayed the basic bedrock of responsible journalism.

“At KTVA we strive to live up to the highest journalistic standards of fairness and transparency. Sunday’s breach of those standards is unacceptable and cannot be tolerated.

“Thank you for watching our news broadcasts and be reassured our mission is to present the kind of journalism that lets you make informed decisions about the community in which we all live.

Greene later spoke with the Alaska Dispatch News, stating that she deliberately resigned in such a manner “because I wanted to draw attention to this issue,” which is up for voting in Alaska’s November election.

She said: “And the issue is medical marijuana. Ballot Measure 2 is a way to make medical marijuana real … most patients didn’t know the state didn’t set up the framework to get patients their medicine.
“If I offended anyone, I apologize, but I’m not sorry for the choice that I made.”

In a statement online related to her cannabis campaign she wrote: “I just quit my news reporting job on live TV to announce that I am redirecting all of my energy toward helping to end a failed drug policy that has ruined the lives of far too many Americans”.
