Elections into the crisis-ridden Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) holds today at the Golden Tulip Hotel, Warri, Delta State and many of the stakeholders and supporters of the contestants have trooped into the oil city, unruffled by a purported court injunction served the 37 FA Associations and the principal officers including Sports Minister, Dr Tammy Danagogo to stop the elections.
Today’s election however has the backing of FIFA. CAF representative, Kwesi Nyantakyi who is also Ghana FA chairman is already in Warri and there seems to be nothing holding the elections back.
There are seven contestants vying to succeed Aminu Maigari as President of the NFF
They include:
Melvin Amaju Pinnick from Delta, - the Chairman of the Delta State Sports Commission
Taiwo Ogunjobi from Osun - a former NFA Secretary-General
Shehu Dikko from Kaduna - a member of the League Management Company (LMC)
Amanze Uchegbulam from Imo - a former first Vice-Chairman of the NFA
Mike Umeh from Anambra - former NFF acting Chairman
Abba Yola from Kano - one-time Special Adviser to the Minister of Sports
Dominic Iorfa from Benue State - Vice-Chairman of Lobi Stars FC
