Tuesday evening, former Manchester United Manager, Sir Alex Ferguson walked into a room occupied by 12 European golf players and their coach. Many wondered for what? Fergie managing a golf team now?
And as a matter of fact, only two of those golfers were Man U fans…Others were supporters of Arsenal, Liverpool, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich. So, what business did he have with such folks?
Well, the team’s coach Paul McGinley, had invited Ferguson, a known lover and player of golf, to come inspire and motivate the players ahead of the 2014 Ryder Cup starting in Gleaneagles on Friday….
McGinley said before they all gathered: “I met him first at the JP McManus Invitational in Ireland 15 years ago and when I became captain, for a number of reasons, I asked him.
“He loves his golf and there were a number of things that he was particularly good at as a manager where I thought he would be a natural fit.
“There’s a lot to be gained from hearing different voices from different
sports,’ said McGinley. ‘It’s relaxed and it is a conversation…. I know
Sir Alex will be fantastic with the players.’
