No explosive found on OAU Student - Police
The Osun State Police Command has denied reports that a man,
identified as Rasaki Adebayo, was found with an explosive at the Awo Hall of
the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.
Some students of the institution had on Wednesday, July 9,
2014, apprehended Adebayo, accusing him of trying to blow up part of the hall.
In a telephone chat with PREMIUM TIMES, the State Police
PRO, DSP Folashade Odoro said: “It is true a man was arrested but he was found
with a gallon of kerosene- not petrol mixed with chemical as reported – and
stove which he says he wants to use and cook. No IED was found on him”
She said that Adebayo was still in police custody but did
not disclose when he would be released
The social media had after the incident, gone wild the news that
the man was found with explosive and attempted to blow up the University
hostel.
