Boko Haram insurgents have reportedly abducted up to 50 women in Gulak town, Adamawa State. The women were said to have been kidnapped at a preaching venue over the weekend.

It was reported that the women were loaded into trucks and taken away by the insurgents as attempts by soldiers to rescue them failed.

A resident disclosed to Daily Trust that he got news of the abduction while she was hiding in a village near Gulak, prior to his escape yesterday. He said the victims included married women.

Also, some young men were reported to have been forcefully taken away in Husra village in Michika LGA to join the insurgents after recruitment through preaching did not work.

A resident of the village, Musa Uba, said:“They conducted preaching sessions to attract converts to their sect but people only listened out of fear. The next day they asked if anybody wanted to join them but there was no response, so they selected many healthy looking young men and ordered them to follow them. One of the victims is my relative who did body building exercises regularly,” he said.
