China’s news agency, Xinhua, reports a top military source as saying that about 400 insurgents allegedly attacked the defence and security forces at about 8.00pm that night.

Authorities are however yet to formally confirm the incident which comes nearly two months after up to 200 suspected Boko Haram fighters were killed by the army in Amchide and Limani, another part of northern Cameroun October 15 and 16.

Since then, the Cameroun forces have strengthened their positions in the north by increasing the number of men on ground to around 6,000.
