An Enugu State High Court has upheld Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi's victory and asked Senator Ayogu Eze to stop parading himself as the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the forthcoming 2015 general elections.
The court, ruling on Thursday, granted an ex-parte injunction restraining him pending the hearing and determination of a case filed by the plaintiff and the PDP governorship candidate for Enugu State, Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi.
The party was also reportedly restrained from recognising or submitting the name of any other person than Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi as its gubernatorial candidate in Enugu State for the February 2015 general elections.
THISDAY LIVE reports that the order was issued by Justice R. O Odogwu in Suit No. E/499/2014 with Senator Ayogu Eze and the PDP as the first and second defendants, respectively.
Ugwuanyi, member representing Udenu/Igboeze North Federal Constituency in the National Assembly had been declared winner of the PDP Enugu State governorship primary election held on Monday at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, after scoring 933 votes.
But it was reported that Senator Eze’s group left the venue and went to conduct a parallel primary at the Filbon Hotel in the city where Eze was declared winner with 603 votes.
