Nobel peace laureate, Malala Yousafzai, has been left "heartbroken" by Tuesday’s killing of 132 pupils and 9 teachers by Taliban militants in Pakistan.

Recall that for campaigning for girls’ right to education, Malala, 17, was shot in the head by the Taliban in 2012, but survived the attack.

Over 132 school children were killed on Tuesday after seven Taliban gunmen invaded their school in Peshawar, Pakistan, making it the Taliban’s deadliest attack in Pakistan.

The attack has received global condemnation.

Condemning the attack, Malala said in a statement:

“I am heartbroken by this senseless and cold blooded act of terror in Peshawar that is unfolding before us. Innocent children in their school have no place in horror such as this”.
“I condemn these atrocious and cowardly acts and stand united with the government and armed forces of Pakistan whose efforts so far to address this horrific event are commendable.”

The Taliban in Pakistan claimed responsibility for the attack, saying it was a retaliation for a major military operation in the region which killed hundreds of Taliban fighters.
