Drama!!! First wife storms marriage registry, groom flees, abandons new bride

A hilarious drama played out at the Oredo Local Government Council marriage registry in Benin, Edo state on Monday when a 57-year-old man took to his heels and abandoned his new bride when he sighted his first wife of 17 years. 

The woman had stormed the marriage ceremony to disrupt her husband’s marriage to another woman.

According to reports, the embattled man simply identified as Valentine, had perfected plans to formalise his relationship secretly with his new lover only for information to filter out to his first wife who then mobilised other women to the venue.

The woman reportedly told the crowd that her husband abandoned his responsibilities to the family since he got involved with his new spouse. The woman added that several attempts to save the marriage failed.

‎PM News quotes her as saying:

“I had to do this because I’m convinced my husband must have been bewitched by the lady because since the rumour began making rounds he has stopped taking care of his four children. Each time he is confronted to provide money for our upkeep he often complained of not having money”

Insisting that she was Valentine’s legal wife, she threatened to sue the council should they go ahead on a later date to wed the man and his new love.
