Reports have it that Nigerian troops, together with riot policemen and vigilante groups are carrying out house-to-house search to flush out remnants of Boko Haram insurgents in Michika and some neighboring communities in Adamawa State.


Some of the insurgents in the area were reported to have launched an attack on a military checkpoint in the town but were repelled by the soldiers.

Punch reports that the soldiers have restricted movement from Hong to Michika to prevent the insurgents from fleeing the area.

The newspaper quoted a source as saying:

 “You know, some of the youths from Michika joined them, and they attacked the troops in the town.

“The soldiers were able to repel the attack and pursued them to some communities outside the main town.

“The troops have also imposed a no movement order on the area from Hong to Michika.”
According to the source, soldiers recovered three buses which were taken away from the College of Education, Hong, during the invasion of the community by the insurgents.
