 The players slept in front of the government House in Port Harcourt last night till this morning. According to them, “no match this weekend” if they do not get anything.

The typical billionaire has about $3.1 billion, is 63 years old, and did not reach the $1 billion threshold until their late 40s. 
 Almost 90% of them are married, and on average, have two kids a piece. 
 They like to hang with other billionaires: They have relationships with nine ultra-high net worth individuals, three of whom are billionaires. 
 They're mostly male: Just 286 of them are women. 
 They're self-made: About 60% of male billionaires fully made their fortunes themselves, and another 27% have at least partly made their money themselves. Though it's a different story for the women -- just 17% are self-made. More than 65% of women billionaires inherited their wealth. 
 They own a lot of stuff: The typical billionaire owns four properties, each worth an average of $23.5 million. About 35% of billionaires have their own private philanthropic foundations, and one in thirty billionaires owns a sports team or a race horse. 
 Education isn't required: Not all billionaires have a wall full of degrees. In fact, the report states that 35% of global billionaires do not have bachelor's degrees. 
 For those who did go to college, University of Pennsylvania tops the list of schools with most billionaire undergraduate alumni. 
 Unsurprisingly, Harvard, Yale and University of Southern California follow, but University of Mumbai and Moscow State University aren't far behind. However, 16 of the top 20 are in the United States. 
 
And where do they live?: Nearly 35% of the world's billionaires 
are concentrated in 20 cities, only two of which are in the United 
States. Despite that, the U.S. has the highest number of billionaires, 
accounting for close to 25% of the world's total billionaire population.

UPDATE: Triple bomb blast in Gombe bus station

The blast that rocked a bus station in Gombe early Friday morning was believed to have gone off from three bombs concealed in bags. Boko Haram is believed to be behind the attack which is believed to have killed up to 34 people with many other injured.

According to some witnesses, three men entered the park at Gombe Line Transport Services early in the morning and dropped the bags among the buses. 
 
Police say the explosion occurred at about 9am and that three people have been arrested. He however did not give details about the death toll, saying it was still being worked at. 
 
Boko Haram has not claimed responsibility but police believe that the suspects had come from Yobe where Boko Haram holds sway. 
 
Gombe is bothered by Adamawa, Borno and Yobe, three states where the terrorists rule.

Who wants to marry a billionaire? - The case of Mrs Mercy Ogbedo

Mrs Ogbedo, who currently lives in London, claims she was duped into marrying a billionaire after realizing that the man already had another wife in Benin Republic. 
 Now, that is not much of a problem, right? Well, the real problem is that after dragging the man to court and losing the case, she has been asked to pay him £100,000 in damages. 
 According to MailOnline, her trouble began in 2002 when she married shipping magnate Moses Taiga in an elaborate ceremony in Nigeria where her feet were washed by village elders and her bride price paid. 
 They had twins together but she has spent more than 10 years in British courts pursuing financial benefits for the sake of her children. A British court ruled that she be paid £300, 000 a year based on the marriage ceremony but Mr Taiga approached a Nigerian High court which ruled October last year, that she would not get a dime because her marriage to the man was not only invalid but a “non-marriage”. 
 The Court held that it could not hand over any of Mr Taiga’s fortune because he was never legally married to Mrs Ogbedo. How? 
 In the words of her Lawyer, Timothy Scott, she realized that in 1974, Mr Taiga wed at an Anglican church in Benin Republic. He however said he found it “incomprehensible that the court insisted that although the Nigerian Law permitted more than one wife, the 2002 marriage was invalidated by Mr. Taiga’s church wedding to a woman in Benin Republic in 1974.

 To rub salt to injury, she was ordered to pay Mr. Taiga £100,000 to cover 80 per cent of his legal costs in the series of complex court hearings. 
 Mrs Ogbedo was in a Court of Appeal in London on Thursday where she had been challenging the order. But she lost again. The court refused to overturn the order although the Court of Appeal judge, Lord Justice McFarlane said he had “real sympathy for the wife’s position”. 
 He said he could not allow her to appeal over a divorce payout because “there was no marriage on which English law could bite” She was however given permission to appeal the £100,000 legal cost pay-back because the sum was arguable unfair, and “She has the sole care of the parties’ children and is a lady of limited means”. 
 But her lawyer, Scott says: “The wife says she was duped. She should be permitted to apply for financial relief in England by virtue of that marriage ceremony” 
 
Now, here is another one: Since his split from Mrs Ogbedo, Mr Taiga 
has also ended his 1974 Benin marriage. He is now married to another

 He was axed as the national team coach earlier this month and was replaced by a consortium of coaches led by Shaibu Amodu, who happened to be the NFF technical director. 
 But the intervention of Goodluck Jonathan in the current NFF crisis and a reported request from Amodu to recall Keshi, prompted the possibility of Keshi getting his old job back. 
 After meeting with Sports Minister, Tammy Danagogo on Thursday, the 52-year-old tactician said: “It is a very, very difficult decision. I am not sure I would say 'no' for now or 'yes' to the order. 
 “I still have to think about it because we all want peace. I want a settled mind before making the decision. I don't have issues with anybody because life is too short. This is my country. I am always willing to offer my service”. 
 He added: “If I desperately wanted a contract, I would have opted for the offer made by Equatorial Guinea because the offer they made was bigger than what Nigeria offered. But this is my country and I want to serve it."

Reports say the bomb went off around 10am, this morning, Friday. Many people are feared dead with reports saying that a number of people are being evacuated to the Gombe General Hospital. 
 Casualty figured are not yet ascertained but security officials have cordoned off the area. 
 A resident said a military patrol team had just left the area before the blast occurred. 
 
Police has also reportedly arrested three persons in connection with the blast

If a p*rn company decides to sponsor the Nigerian Football League

Would it be a big deal if an X-rated company like Pornhub offers to sponsor the Nigerian Football League or at least the sporting kits? Remember that lack of sponsorship has severally and serially been cited as one of the major factors responsible for the lack of development of the Nigerian football League.  P*rn website, PornHub, decided to sponsor the University of Kent football team, Rutherford Raiders, but authorities have banned the team from wearing the new jersey which bears the company’s logo, describing it as “totally inappropriate”. 
 The team initially put the PornHub logo on their shirts as a joke as they competed in the inter-mural football leagues at Kent University. The website then contacted them and offered to sponsor for real. 
 
A spokesman of the University, Martin Herrema, has warned that the team would be banned from playing if they wore the jerseys on campus. 
 His words: “The University of Kent sports department would never sanction sponsorship of this type - it is totally inappropriate. 
 "The team has been spoken with and will not be allowed to wear the shirts in question at any time. "We take this issue very seriously and inter-college sports teams, which are the responsibility of Kent Sport, must present any potential sponsorship and/or logos for approval". 
 
The Tab student newspaper quoted a member of the team as saying: “We had a real problem with local sponsors not getting back to us and no establishment on campus co-operating. 
 Another, quoted by Metro UK, argued: “We are struggling to see why they are having a problem. The university cricket team are sponsored by Kingfisher, which is also an age-restricted product. 
 “In my opinion the decision is made by people in Kent Sport that are out of touch with what’s socially acceptable. It’s hard for football teams to find a sponsor. Both Kent Sport and Rutherford refused to give us any money. 
 “Clearly Pornhub did because there’s was an opportunity to create a bit of attention. I personally haven’t come across anyone yet that has found it anything other than funny”.

 Jerry Needam, the Special Adviser to the state PDP Chairman, Felix Obuah on media said that the early arrival of state fire service helped to put out the fire. 
 Also, Obuah, was quoted as saying: “An attempt to burn the party secretariat has being carried out by desperate politicians who want the party to postpone the party’s ward and local Government. Congresses scheduled to take place tomorrow, Saturday. They have failed because arrangements have concluded and we are going ahead. Nobody can stop it. PDP will come tops. 
 “We have watching on news of some desperate politicians threatening the party” 
 Fifteen governorship aspirants in the party had on Thursday held a rally at the Liberation stadium in Port Harcourt where they insisted on rotation of power in the State PDP. Many of the aspirants accuse former Minister of State for Education, Nyesom Wike, of hijacking the party. 
 Wike, who is also gunning for the state’s governorship seat, had about a week ago said that he would not accept any concept of zoning or rotation of elective positions in the state. 
 Wike hails from the Ikwere ethnic nationality, same zone where the current governor, Rotimi Amaechi hails from. The other aspirants want the next governor to come from another zone. 
 Speaking at a press conference where he unveiled his campaign office, Wike said: “I will not accept any attempt to impose any governorship candidate on the party. Let all the governorship aspirants go to the primaries to test their popularity. These are critical times, so it is in the interest of our party to put the best candidate forward for the 2015 governorship election”. 
 “Why are they clamouring for zoning? If the other aspirants truly believe that they are popular, why are they shying away from participating in an open contest? Who among them can match Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, at the polls in 2015? Who among the aspirants in the Peoples’ Democratic Party can defeat me at the primaries?”

 This came after the sect also overran Vintim, the home town of the Chief of Defence Staff, Air Marshal Alex Badeh, on Thursday 
 The sect had invaded Mubi on Wednesday, storming the 234 Nigerian Army Battalion, burning down the police station, burning down the Mubi prison, setting the inmates free and causing troops and residents to flee. They also hoisted their flag at the Palace of the Emir of Mubi. 
 Even though most parts of Mubi have been deserted and looking like a ghost town, a resident from Mubi who spoke to the press, said members of the sect were telling those who do not believe in Islam to repent. 
 He said that the insurgents tried to calm fleeing residents, telling them that they were not after innocent people but were there for those who do not want to believe what Islam preaches.

 Eedris who spoke to Vanguard at Gulf International Technology Exhibition and dinner held in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates, where he was billed to perform, said that music, unlike what it is turning out o be these days, should be a platform to educate people. 
 His words: “The music they play today is always talking about boobs, booty and all that. For me, I think music should be educative, it should be a platform where you can educate people. Some wouldn’t know what education is all about but when they listen to music, they learn. If you listen to my music 12 years ago, I talked about the ills in the society. 
 “I also remembered then when I came back from Egypt, when I represented Nigeria at the Olympic Torch with Prof Pat Utomi, late Dora Akunyili, Chief Olusegun Odegbami and others, I came back and sang about the ills in the society. ‘Mr Lecturer’ was one of them, Jaga-jaga was another. Those are the kinds of songs that I do and for me, I think that is the best way to educate the people. 
 Talking about that hit, “Jagajaga” which got him into former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s bad books, the former Remedies member used the opportunity of the chat to say that he did not miss it when he said all was not well with Nigeria then. But he said things have really under President Goodluck Jonathan’s rein. 
 Asked if Nigeria was no more jagajaga, he said: “No, no no! Twelve years ago Nigeria was jaga-jaga, but now Nigeria is no more jaga jaga, even though we know that the insecurity happening in Nigeria is propaganda against government, but Dr. Jonathan is doing his best and is trying. I must tell you that for the first time, I’m very positive about this government. In three years, Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has been able to show Nigerians that there actually could be development”. 
 He also said: “Our airports are being refurbished. See our road from Lagos to Ore, which has been there for fifteen years — he has done it. Now it’s three hours from Lagos to Benin. Also the Lagos-Ibadan road has also been there for years and Dr Jonathan is doing it. I am positive about this government and it is my responsibility to use music as a platform to promote what he has done.”

“So, I’m grooming chicken, buying rice, yams, plantain, and the rest of them. I am sure if I give it to families during the festive period, they will be happy. So, stomach infrastructure is a way of life.” 
 
He added: “So, my style without apology is that stomach infrastructure is a way of life for me, I will relate well with my people to alleviate poverty and hunger”. 
 
“Stomach infrastructure is very important in the life of a man. If 
you look at Britain, as rich and as comfortable as they are, in the 
entire time, they find their way to address the issue of the poor and 
less privileged people in their country by what they call social 
security. 
 “Food is a social security; you can’t be talking to a
 hungry man; he would be distracted by any means. So, when we say 
stomach infrastructure, it is a welfare programme, a programme that

The ruling followed an earlier withdrawal of the case by the Chris Giwa-led faction. 
 The withdrawal is undoubtedly a product of President Goodluck Jonathan’s intervention. The President had held a meeting with both factions on Wednesday. 
 Giwa had challenged the validity of the September 30 elections in Warri, Delta State, which brought in Pinnick and his executive members. 
 The country now looks good to escape a ban from FIFA who had given the country a Friday, October 31 deadline to withdraw the case from court.

Tambuwal had after plenary on Tuesday told his fellow lawmakers that he defected
to the APC due to political developments in his home state, Sokoto. The PDP has
also called on him to vacate his seat as Speaker.

According to sources, the Nigeria Police Force has withdrawn his security
aides and men of the Department of State Services have also be withdrawn from
his Apo legislative quarters.

In a statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, Emmanuel Ojukwu,
in Abuja on Thursday, the Police cited the speaker’s defection as the reason
for the action.

His words: “In view of the recent defection by the Right Honourable Aminu
Waziri Tanbuwal, CFR, the Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Federal
Republic of Nigeria, from the People Democratic Party (PDP) to the All
Progressive Congress (APC), and having regard to the clear provision of section
68(1)(g) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as
amended, the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has redeployed its personnel attached
to his office.

 “It’s made me more empathetic, which has led to a richer life.  Speaking after receiving the World Children’s prize for the rights of the child in Marienfred, Sweden, on Wednesday, said that the money would be used to rebuild 65 schools in the Palestinian territory. 
According to her, the money would be channeled through the United Nations relief agency (UNRWA). 
 The noble prize winner said that children in Gaza had suffered from conflicts and war, adding that the money would help children get “quality education” and continue their life. 
 Her words: “The needs are overwhelming – more than half of Gaza’s population is under 18 years of age. They want and deserve quality education, hope and real opportunities to build a future. 
 “This funding will help rebuild the 65 schools damaged during the recent conflict. Innocent Palestinian children have suffered terribly and for too long.” 
 Pierre Krähenbühl, UNRWA’s commissioner general, said the organisation was “deeply touched” by the gesture. It would “lift the spirits of a quarter of a million UNRWA students in Gaza and boost the morale of our more than 9,000 teaching staff there”, he said.

Mechanic in prison for abducting, raping 13 year-old girl for 5 days

A 28-year-old mechanic is being held in prison for reportedly abducting a 13-year-old girl and raping her in captivity for five days. The accused was on Wednesday remanded in prison by a magistrate court in Lokoja, Kogi State.

 The accused, Abdulkadir Salihu, was said to have enticed the girl into his house and kept her for up to five days during which he had sex with her. 
 The police prosecutor, Corporal Ubi Ubana, told the court that one Adama Ibrahim of Galilee Street, Lokoja reported the matter at the ‘A’ Division Police headquarters and Department of Criminal Investigation, Lokoja on October 23. 
 Ibrahim had alleged that on the afternoon of October 16, he sent the girl, who happened to be his niece, to buy Okro from Adankolo New Layout Market, Lokoja when the accused “enticed her into his house on Agbai Street.” 
 He said that: “During the period, he had sex with his captive for several times before releasing her on October 20”. 
 A DailyPost report said that Ubana, urged the court to remand the accused in Koton-Karfe prisons, in view of the enormity of his offence. 
 In her ruling, the senior magistrate, Mrs Joyce Abdulmalik, ordered that the accused be remanded at the Medium Security Federal Prisons, Koton-Karfe while the matter was adjourned to November 10 for mention.

 Mimiko, who became governor on the platform of LP, recently defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and his former party wants him to take the same path he insisted that Senator Ajayi Boroffice should take two years ago. 
 Senator Boroffice, who was elected as a Senator on the platform of LP defected to the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) and Mimiko was said to have advised the party to take the senator to court in order to force him to resign. 
 The party’s National Working Committee (NWC), rising from a meeting in Abuja on Wednesday, issued a statement asking Mimiko to “take the path of honour”. 
 Part of the statement issued by the LP National Publicity Secretary, Ikpe Etokudo, reads: “The NWC came to the inevitable conclusion that the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the provisions of the relevant sections of the electoral laws must be respected by Dr. Olusegun Mimiko and his new party – the PDP. 
 “The case of Dr. Boroffice who was elected as a Senator on the platform of our party but defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) was cited.” 
 Mimiko and the PDP were advised “to take the path of honour immediately or should expect to defend their deliberate raping of the constitution of the country within next 21 days in court as well as be ready to face the wrath of workers of Ondo State in particular and the nation in general”.

 Vanguard reports that the victim, Simon Mbam, jumped into a pool in the area last week after being tortured for allegedly stealing the said sum from a shop in the market. 
 According to the report, Mbam’s trouble started on evening when he went out with his friends to buy drinks at the shop. 
 It was learnt that while Mbam and his friends were sipping their drinks, the owner of the shop raised an alarm over a missing N1,000 in his carton of drinks. The alarm attracted villagers who gave all the customers in the shop a day ultimatum to return the money or face the consequences. 
 The money was later found at the door step of the shop, but the owner of the shop insisted on knowing the person behind the act. 
 The report said that Mbam confessed to the crime and was allegedly severely beaten to stupor by the irate villagers who also fined him two goats, two crates of beer and N5,000. His mother immediately provided the items but the village head reportedly rejected the items until an additional N5000 was provided or the case would be taken to the police. 
 The frustration and humiliation faced by the suspect, it was learnt, drove him to jump into a pond near the market square. He drowned before he could be rescued. 
 The village head and four other people have been arrested by the police after the victim’s mother reported the matter.

Nigeria ranked 170 in ease of doing business worldwide…SEE THE TOP 10

Nigeria has been ranked 170 out of 189 countries in terms of the ease of doing business across the world. The country ranked 175 last year. The latest ranking was part of a report released on Wednesday by the World Bank.

 According to the ease of doing business report, Mauritius is the best in Africa, ranking 28 while the worst three are Central Africa Republic, Libya and Eritrea who ranked 187, 188 and 189 respectively. 
 Singapore is the best country in the world to do business followed by New Zealand, Hong Kong SAR, china, Denmark and Korea Republic which all ranked 2, 3, 4 and 5 respectively. 
 The top ten countries in order of  their ranks are:

3. Hong Kong/ China 
4. Denmark 
5. Republic of Korea

8. United Kingdom 
9. Finland 
10. Australia 
 The ranking was based on 10 parameters include Starting a Business; Dealing with Construction Permits; Getting Electricity; Registering Property; Getting Credit; Protecting Minority Investors; Paying Taxes; Trading Across Borders; Enforcing Contracts and Resolving Insolvency. 
 This year’s report marks the 12th edition of the global Doing Business report series. 
 This year too, for the first time, Nigeria was among 10 countries where the Doing Business report analysis was done in two cities – Kano and Lagos. 
 According to the World Bank, “the 2015 report also includes data from two cities rather than one for 11 countries with more than 100 million people (Bangladesh, Brazil, China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Mexico, Nigeria, Pakistan, the Russian Federation, and the United States). In most cases, the report did not find significant differences between the two cities in terms of business climate. 
 “The 10 economies that have improved the most since the previous year are Tajikistan, Benin, Togo, Côte d’Ivoire, Senegal, Trinidad and Tobago, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Azerbaijan, Ireland, and the United Arab Emirates”.

The woman’s body was found on Tuesday night on a Long Island street while her severed head was on the opposite side. The woman, who is thought to be in her 60s, was wearing only a bra and pants, said a witness. 
 
New York Daily News quotes the witness, Jack Imperial, 41, as saying: “The body’s feet were at the curb, the shoulders were at the middle of the street. The head was across the street. 
 
“I’ve seen some gruesome stuff in my years of living ... but nothing like this. I didn’t expect to see something like this, especially not out here.”

Just 20 minutes after the corpse’s discovery, MTA police confirmed that a
 man in his 30s, whom sources say was possibly the woman’s son, had 
stepped in front of a Ronkonkoma-bound train near the Clinton St. 
crossing, close to the scene. 
  
Police sources said they believe the woman’s head may have been kicked across the street after the murder, but it was not clear if the murder actually took place outside or inside the apartment building whose frontage, the body was found. 
 
Nick Gordon, who said he lived across the hall from the woman, told the New York Daily News that said she moved in a few months ago and had a small white dog. 
 
He said. “When I came out the door, I saw the blood on the tile. It was all over, as if someone could’ve been pulling a body. You could see the smears going down the stairs.” 
 
The woman and her presumed son are yet to be identified by the police.

A 22-year-old man in the United Kingdom took his girlfriend’s words and action so personal that he cut off his penis and threw it into a dustbin. The man, Oliver Ilic had to call in an ambulance when he couldn't stop the bleeding. How could he have stopped it anyway?

UK magazine, Closer reports that Ilic told doctors that his girlfriend had dumped him for being bad in bed, saying that his penis was too small. 
 According to him, he decided to cut off the “damn thing” since it was useless. 
 The severed organ was found in a dustbin when police searched his house. The razor blade he used was also found there. 
 The report said surgeons managed to reattach the penis to him after a complicated five hour operation. 
 Two questions are now left to be answered. 
 One: Will the operation (attachment) be a success? Two: Will the penis ever function even as “bad” as it used to be or not at all?

Two dead in accident involving Benue governorship aspirant’s convoy

Two people have been reported dead in an accident involving the convoy of a People Democratic Party’s governorship aspirant in Benue State, Mr. Simon Anchaver, on Tuesday night. One other person is said to be critically injured and receiving treatment at a hospital in Makurdi, the state capital.

According to Punch, the accident occurred just after Anchaver, who intends to contests in the forthcoming general election in the state, had submitted his interest form to the party’s national secretariat in Abuja and had also held a rally in the state capital to herald his homecoming. 
 
It was learnt that the accident occurred while the people around and those in two cars in the convoy were in celebration mood. 
 
Urging supporters to pray for the repose of the dead whom he described as fallen comrades, Anchaver said that has paid the mortuary bills and also the hospital bills of the injured person. 
 
The governorship aspirant, a former labour leader in the state, added that the incident has not in any way affected his resolve to rule the state if elected.

 The suspected robbers were reported to have broken into the Vosloorus house of Meyiwa’s girlfriend, actress and singer, Kelly Khumalo on Sunday evening. 
 According to a provincial official for community safety, Sizakele Nkosi-Malubane,“Two guys entered the house and demanded cellphones, money and other valuables. 
 "Senzo tried to protect Kelly because one of the men had a gun pointed towards her." 
 National Police Commissioner Riah Phiyega, told a press conference that the 27-year-old goalkeeper was shot once in the upper body, as he moved towards the door. He was declared dead on arrival at the hospital. 
 Police has offered a reward of 250,000 rand for information about the suspects. Police descriptions say one of them is tall, dark-skinned and slender with dreadlocks, while the other is said to be short, dark-skinned and well-built.

Amber Vinson, the second Texas nurse who was infected with the Ebola virus while caring for a Liberian patient in the US has been confirmed cured and has left hospital.

 Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday after leaving hospital, she said: “I’m so grateful to be well and first and foremost I want to thank God,” 
 The 29-year-old nurse who could not help getting emotional and wiping off tears, thanked her family and the medical teams in Texas and Georgia, and asked for people to continue to work to eradicate the Ebola outbreak in other countries. 
 “While this is a day for celebration and gratitude, I ask that we not lose focus on the thousands of families that continue to labor under the burden of this disease in West Africa.” she said. 
 Her colleague Nina Pham, who was infected before her, was treated at the National Institutes of Health Clinical Center in Bethesda, Maryland and was released on Friday. 
 They were both infected while caring for Thomas Eric Duncan, the Liberian who was diagnosed with Ebola in Texas after flying to the US from his native Liberia, He died on October 8.
