“Convert to Islam”, Boko Haram preaches at Mubi, overruns Chief of Defence Staff's town

After overrunning Mubi, Adamawa state on Wednesday, the Islamic insurgents, Boko Haram, on Thursday started to preach to the people, asking them to repent and embrace Islam.

This came after the sect also overran Vintim, the home town of the Chief of Defence Staff, Air Marshal Alex Badeh, on Thursday

The sect had invaded Mubi on Wednesday, storming the 234 Nigerian Army Battalion, burning down the police station, burning down the Mubi prison, setting the inmates free and causing troops and residents to flee. They also hoisted their flag at the Palace of the Emir of Mubi.

Even though most parts of Mubi have been deserted and looking like a ghost town, a resident from Mubi who spoke to the press, said members of the sect were telling those who do not believe in Islam to repent.

He said that the insurgents tried to calm fleeing residents, telling them that they were not after innocent people but were there for those who do not want to believe what Islam preaches.
