Following the recent departure of seven ministers from the cabinet of President Goodluck Jonathan, the president has carried out a minor cabinet reshuffle to fill the vacant ministries.


The decision was taking at the end of Wednesday’s Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting.

The vacant offices are those left by Ministers of Information, Labaran Maku; Trade and Industry, Samuel Ortom; State for Education, Nyesom Wike; and State for Defence, Musiliu Obanikoro; Ministers of Labour, Emeka Wogu; Health, Onyebuchi Chukwu; State for Niger Delta, Dairus Ishaku.

Below are the list of ministers who departed and the ministers ordered to fill their positions for the time being.

Labaran Maku, the Minister of Information -- Minister of State II, for Foreign Affairs, Dr. Nurudeen Mohammed.

Onyebuchi Chukwu, the Minister of Health -- Dr. Khaliru Alhassan, the Minister of State for Health State

Chief Emeka Wogu, the Supervising Minister of Labour and Productivity --Minister of Special Duties, Taminu Turaki (SAN).

Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, the Minister of State for Defence; job combined with that Alhaji Aliyu Guasu, Minister of Defence.

Dr. Darius Ishaku, Minister of State for Niger Delta affairs; job combined with that of Dr. Stephen Oru, the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs

Samuel Ortom, Minister of State for Industry, Trade and Investment; job combined with that of Olusegun Aganga, the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment.

Minister of State I for Foreign Affairs, Mrs. Viola Onwuliri was appointed to take over as the substantive Minister of State for Education, a position left by Nyesom Wike.
