A bomb exploded at the Azare Motor Park in Bauchi on Wednesday night at about 10pm killing no fewer than 5 persons and leaving many seriously injured. It is believed that the blast was the handiwork of the Islamic sect, Boko Haram, who had previously targeted the area.
There were reports too that it must have been a suicide bomb attack.
The police and military have not made any official statement but security forces have reportedly locked down the area.
Witnesses said the saw dead bodies being driven away in vans by emergency workers but no official casualty figure had yet been given.
The blast coupled with a recent abduction of over 60 women in Adamawa as well as several other attacks in Borno villages this week further spells doom for whatever truce or ceasefire agreement the federal government claimed to have had with the sect.
Azare is a commercial town that is about 200 kilometres from Bauchi city, the state capital
