A 28-year old man, Abiodun Ojedokun has been sentenced to six days of community service for stealing large pot of soup from a woman’s shop.
NAN reports that a Somolu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State on Monday sentenced him to 48hours of community service for each of the three-count charge brought against him which he pleaded guilty to.
The prosecutor, ASP Akinlabi Adegoke, was quoted as telling the court that the convict, who was a casual worker and whose address was unknown, committed the offences stole the pot of soup on September 20 at 2:00 a.m. at the Onipanu Model Market in Somolu.
He was said to have connived with some others to break into the shop of one Mrs. Gbadamosi at about 2am. He said the large pot of soup was valued at N8,000.
While sentencing the Ojedokun the Magistrate, Mrs Bola Osunsanmi, said: “Based on the facts of this case before this court, the confirmed report and your plea of leniency, I hereby sentence you to 48 hours community service on each of the counts of the charge”.
Ojedokun who was charged with conspiracy, burglary and stealing, akd for leniency saying that he committed the offence because he was starving.
