Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, in obvious
response to his recent defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the
opposition All Progressives Congress (APC).
Tambuwal had after plenary on Tuesday told his fellow lawmakers that he defected
to the APC due to political developments in his home state, Sokoto. The PDP has
also called on him to vacate his seat as Speaker.

aides and men of the Department of State Services have also be withdrawn from
his Apo legislative quarters.
In a statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, Emmanuel Ojukwu,
in Abuja on Thursday, the Police cited the speaker’s defection as the reason
for the action.
His words: “In view of the recent defection by the Right Honourable Aminu
Waziri Tanbuwal, CFR, the Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Federal
Republic of Nigeria, from the People Democratic Party (PDP) to the All
Progressive Congress (APC), and having regard to the clear provision of section
