The source which stated that the governor of the western region of Kayes confirmed the death said “Unfortunately she died between 4:00 pm and 5:00 pm.
Authorities in Mali are monitoring 43 people who have been in contact with the girl, including 10 health workers and her parents.
Reports said the girl had recently returned to Mali from neighbouring Guinea, one of the countries worst hit by the virus.
