The registered trustees of Believers Love World, a.k.a Christ Embassy has been dragged to court for trespass on a parcel of land and exhumation of remains of a woman buried on the land situated in Aba, Abia State.
Vanguard reports that the claimant, Mr. Richard Loromeke, instituted the N100million suit against the church for trespassing on the land and exhuming the body of his mother, Madam Cecilia Loromeke, buried on the land.
The report said the defendants in the suit include Messrs Samson Enwereji, Registered Trustees of Believers Love Church and Remi Chijioke.
Loromeke’s statement of claim, supported by a 25-paragraph affidavit, stated that his late mother purchased the land in dispute from one Jacob Enwereji in 1997 for farming.
He said his mother had leased the land to tenants which included electricians, mechanics and artisans. He said after his mother died in 2006, he buried her on a portion of the land and continued to manage the estate and collect rent from the tenants.
According to him, in November 2011, the first defendant started to trespass on the land by serving all the tenants court orders while he was away, an action which prompted him to warn the church keep off the disputed land.
He said that in December of the same year, the defendants evicted all the tenants and later in November 2012, invaded the land and demolished his mother’s grave house, which he had erected over her tomb.
He added that the first defendant was arrested by the police at Zone 9, Police Headquarters, Umuahia where the case was reported to. The first defendant later promised to rebuild the grave house but never did.
Loromeke, who is said to also be claiming N992,300 as special damages, prayed the court for an order of perpetual injunction restraining the defendants by themselves, servants, agents, workmen, surrogates, thugs and/or privies from any further trespass on the disputed land.
