Even as the Confederation of African Football (CAF) continues to seek ways to ensure that the 2015 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) is staged despite host, Morocco, fearing that it could spread the Ebola virus to the country, Super Eagles skipper, Vincent Enyeama, has expressed wish that the tournament is cancelled for 2015.

Morocco has asked CAF to shift the event scheduled for January 17 to February 8, to later in the year to allow current threat posed by Ebola to subside, but the football federation insists that it must go on as planned.

CAF has approached South Africa, Ghana and five other countries to stand by if Morocco eventually fails. But Enyeama reasons with Morocco.

He said: “I really hope it doesn’t happen. It is risky; in Africa everyone is hugging you and shaking your hand.

“But if CAF says it will happen I will play – if Nigeria qualifies.”

Whether the competition would go on or not in the North African nation would be determined after officials from CAF and Morocco meet on November 3.

The Ebola virus has killed more than 4800 people since it broke out in West Africa and W.H.O warns that it is showing no signs of slowing down.
