A Friday US Airways flight from Israel to Philadelphia was forced to terminate in Rome after the entire 14 crew members and two passengers took ill on the plane. The plane had to make an emergency landing in Rome as a result of the situation.

The 16 people reportedly started vomiting and suffering from red eyes.

The sick passengers and crew members were taken by ambulance to a medical facility at Fiumicino Airport, near Rome, where the plane landed on emergency.

Reports said other passengers noticed the stench of vomit at some point after the plane had taken off before landing three hours later.

The flight had taken off from Ben Gurion airport in Tel Aviv at 11:30pm Friday, en route Philadelphia International Airport, USA.

According to an airline spokesman,

"The aircraft, an Airbus A330 with 129 passengers, landed safely in Rome early Saturday morning and all passengers have been re-accommodated on other flights.

"Two passengers and the crew were evaluated by medical personnel and have since been released."
