It has just been learnt that death toll at the collapsed Synagogue Church building has hit 44. The National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, had earlier announced during the day that 40 people had been confirmed dead.
Over 124 people have been rescued alive from the rubble of the building, said to be a guest house for foreign members of The Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN), in the Ikotun area of Lagos.
The two-storey building, located in the premises of the church complex collapsed on Friday afternoon during a construction work to add three more floors to it.
General Overseer of the church, Prophet TB Joshua was widely quoted earlier today as saying that a low-flying jet that repeatedly circled the building may have been responsible for the collapse which was actually an attack on him. Read the story here
